Turkish Sesame Rings with Brown Sugar Syrup
Ingredients
Yeast dough
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1½ tsp dry yeast
- 120 ml water
- 200 g flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For brushing
- 100 g sugar, brown
- 6-8 tbsp water
- 75 g sesame

Instructions
Prepare the dough
- Mix the sugar, yeast and warm water in a bowl.
- Leave the yeast solution to stand in a warm place for 5-10 minutes.
- Sieve the flour and mix with the salt.
- Add the water and oil to the dry ingredients.
- Knead into a smooth and elastic dough.
- Roll the dough into a ball, place in a large bowl.
- Cover with a towel, let rise 60-90 minutes
Boil syrup for brushing
- Brown sugar with 3 Combine tablespoons of water in a saucepan.
- Simmer the mixture over low heat, stirring, until thickened.
- Bring the syrup to the consistency of runny honey, then remove from the heat.
- Let cool completely.
- Add 3 to 4 Mix in tablespoons of water.
- Roast the sesame seeds in a dry pan for 2-3 minutes until golden.
- Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
Prepare the sesame rings
- As soon as the volume of the dough has doubled, knead the dough and divide into 4-6 equal portions .
- Each piece into a 50-60 cm long Ro Shape each.
- Fold each roll in half, then twist and stretch.
- Connect the ends to form a bagel.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Dunk or brush each piece in the syrup .
- Then sprinkle with sesame seeds on all sides.
- Place on the baking tray, cover with a damp cloth and leave to stand in a warm place for 30-40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Sesame rings for approx. 15 -Bake for 17 minutes until golden.
- Then remove and serve warm or slightly chilled.
