Simple mushy peas with water and butter | Perfect as a side dish

Perfect for lunch or dinner, this mushy peas can be served with both vegetable salads and your favorite meat dish.

Ingredients

  • 18 g split peas
  • 400 ml water
  • salt, to taste
  • butter, or oil, to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the peas well.
  2. Changing the water several times.
  3. Soak for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  4. Rinse again and place in a saucepan.
  5. Cover with water and bring to a boil over high heat .
  6. Reduce the heat and simmer for 45 – 55 minutes. Cooking time may vary depending on the type of pea.
  7. Add salt and butter 5 minutes before the end of the boil.
  8. For a smoother consistency, puree the porridge with an immersion blender.
