Pan-fried caramelized pears with vanilla

This delicious dessert with pears is ready in no time and tastes delicious! The soft, juicy fruits are caramelized in butter with brown sugar and vanilla and are perfect with ice cream or whipped cream.

  • 3-5 pears, ripe
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • vanilla extract, to taste
  • 60 ml water


  1. Have the pears in half and remove the core.
  2. Heat the butter in a pan over high heat.
  3. Place the fruit in the pan, cut-side down.
  4. Sauté for about 5 minutes, then turn the heat up Reduce to low and cook for a further 5 minutes.
  5. Add the brown sugar, water and vanilla extract.
  6. Cover with the lid and allow to caramelize for 10 minutes.
  7. Turn the pears, basting with the caramel sauce from the bottom of the pan and continue cooking for about 5 minutes.
  8. Serve the caramelized pears with ice cream or whipped cream.
