Keftedes meatballs with mint in tomato sauce

Keftedes are small meatballs from Greek cuisine that taste very aromatic. The mint gives the meatballs a fresh taste and the garlic gives them a pleasant aroma. The tomato sauce made from fresh tomatoes and carrots dominates the taste of the keftedes and makes them taste incredibly delicious.

  • 500 g minced meat
  • 2 slices of white bread
  • 2 onions
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • parsley, to taste
  • mint, to taste
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • olive oil, to taste
  • flour, to taste
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 2 carrots


  1. Soak the white bread in a little water.
  2. Put the wet, squeezed bread in a bowl.
  3. Mix well with the ground beef, egg, onions, garlic, mint and chopped parsley.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Off Form 2-3 cm large meatballs from the meat mixture and roll them in flour.
  6. Heat the oil in a pan.
  7. Fry the keftedes for 3-4 minutes on both sides.
  8. For the sauce, fry the finely chopped onions together with the garlic.
  9. Add the grated carrots and chopped tomatoes and bring the sauce to a boil.
  10. Pour the keftedes into the sauce and simmer for about 25-30 minutes.
  11. Keftedes Meatballs in tomato sauce, sprinkle with chopped parsley and enjoy warm.
