Ingredients

  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 eggs
  • 2-3 turnips
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 100-150 g mayonnaise
  • ⅓ leek
  • 1 apple, best sweet and sour variety
  • dill, for garnish

Utensils

  • pot
  • grater
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • glass bowl

Instructions

  • Cook potatoes and carrots for 25-30 minutes, eggs for 10 minutes.
  • Let the vegetables and eggs cool down.
  • Grate the potatoes and carrots separately.
  • Finely chop the leeks.
  • Separate the egg whites from the yolks and also grate.
  • Peel the turnips and grate on a coarse grater.
  • Lightly salt, mix and divide into three equal parts.
  • Put the coarsely grated potatoes in a glass bowl.
  • Lightly salt and pepper and spread with mayonnaise.
  • Next, layer one-third of the grated turnips.
  • Layer the chopped leeks and grated carrots.
  • Spread with mayonnaise.
  • Season with salt and pepper, if you like.
  • Then layer the turnips, grated apple, and turnips again.
  • Lay out the grated egg whites and brush with mayonnaise.
  • Sprinkle the finished layered salad with the egg yolks.
  • Garnish with dill before serving.
  • The layered salad with turnips goes wonderfully with the grill. Kohlrabi or radishes can also be used instead of turnips.
