Juicy coleslaw with carrots

Coleslaw is a traditional American appetizer made from cabbage and carrots that comes in many variations.   • 1 kg white cabbage, medium-sized
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 100 g mayonnaise
  • 90 ml cream
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste


  1. Clean the cabbage and peel the carrots.
  2. Grab both finely.
  3. Peel the onion and dice finely.
  4. Mix the cabbage, carrots and onion together.
  5. For the sauce: white wine vinegar, sugar, lemon juice, mayonnaise and cream stir together.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and add to the vegetables.
  7. Mix the coleslaw well and chill for at least 4 hours to marinate.
  8. Stir well before serving.

The American coleslaw can be prepared a day in advance and stored in a cool place. It goes well with grilled meat or potatoes.
