Hearty meat stew with vegetables and steamed dumplings
Ingredients
- 500g pork
- 700g potatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot
- 400g white cabbage, or sauerkraut
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, plus some for greasing
- 600-700ml water
- 2 eggs
- 250 ml kefir
- salt, to taste
- 500 g flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- black pepper, to taste
Utensils

Instructions
- Wash the meat thoroughly, cut into large cubes.
- Peel and wash the vegetables.
- Dice the potatoes.
- Finely chop the onions.
- Grate the carrot on a medium grater.
- Clean the white cabbage and slice into fine strips .
- Heat the oil in a saucepan or deep pan.
- Fry the meat in it over high heat for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Add the onions and sauté for about 3-4 minutes.
- With 100 1 ml of water.
- Let the meat simmer, covered, for approx. 15-20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, whisk the eggs in a bowl with a whisk.
- Add the kefir and a pinch of salt and mix well.
- Mix the flour with the baking powder .
- Sieve into the egg and kefir mixture.
- Knead into a soft, elastic dough.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle approx. 2-3 mm thick.
- brush with a little oil.

- Add the carrots and white cabbage to the meat.

- Pour in the remaining water.

- Serve the meat stew hot with vegetables and steamed noodles.
The steamed noodles can be served with melted butter if you like.
