Grilled watermelon with honey marinade and lime

This simple and smoky grill flavor makes the watermelon taste more intense and flavorful. It’s a quick, unusual and impressive summer appetizer or dessert! Another variation would be to cut up the grilled one and serve it in a light vegetable salad.

  • 1 lime
  • 4-5 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 watermelon, small, seedless, approx. 5 kg
  • sea salt, to taste
  • basil, or mint, to taste


  1. Wash the lime and first grate the peel on a fine grater.
  2. Use the citrus press to squeeze out the lime juice.
  3. Mix the lime juice and lime zest with honey and olive oil in a small bowl.
  4. Wash the watermelon, cut into 2-3 cm thick pieces Slice, brush both sides with the marinade and grill for about 2 minutes on each side.
  5. Place the grilled watermelon slices on a plate.
  6. Season with salt to taste and garnish with basil or mint.
