Fruity pear jam with lemons, sugar and cinnamon
Ingredients
- 1 kg pears
- 1 kg sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 lemon, unwaxed
- 2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions
- Wash, halve and core the pears.
- Cut the fruit into wedges.
- In a deep saucepan, bring the water and sugar to the boil.
- Simmer the syrup over medium-high heat until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Add the pears and simmer the fruit over low heat.
- Grab the zest of the lemon on a fine grater.
- Boil the jam for 2 hours, stirring regularly.
- Add the grated zest of the lemon at the end of cooking.
- Pour the finished pear jam into screw-top jars and close tightly.
It tastes best as a spread. Pear jam is also used in desserts and cake recipes.
