French clafoutis dessert with strawberries and vanilla extract

This delicate French dessert resembles a cake, a casserole, and an egg mousse all at once. In the classic version, clafoutis is prepared with cherries.

Ingredients

  • 450 g strawberries, fresh
  • 1 tbsp sugar, for the strawberries
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 g sugar, for the dough
  • 1¹⁄₂ tsp vanilla extract
  • 240 ml milk
  • 80-85 g flour
  • ¹⁄₄ tsp salt
  • butter, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Grease a 26-27 cm round baking dish or casserole dish with butter.
  3. Cut the strawberries into thick slices or halves.
  4. Mix the strawberry pieces with a spoonful of sugar .
  5. Stir the sugar, eggs, milk, flour, vanilla extract and salt in a mixer.
  6. Put the strawberries in the casserole dish and cover with the batter.
  7. Bake the clafoutis with the strawberries in the oven at 180 °C for approx. 35 minutes.
