Crunchy toast rolls with apple filling
Ingredients
Filling
- 3-4 apples
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 5 tbsp water
- 2 tsp cinnamon, ground
- 1 pinch nutmeg, ground
- 1 tbsp cornflour
Toast Rolls
- 2 Eggs
- 3 tbsp milk
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 12-15 slices of toast
- 120 g cream cheese

Instructions
For the filling
- Peel, core and dice the apples.
- Met 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan.
- Add the apples, brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of water, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and nutmeg to the pan.
- The Sauté the apples for about 4-6 minutes, stirring, until they are soft.
- Mix the starch with the remaining water in a small bowl.
- Add to the apples.
- Let the apple filling thicken for about 3-4 minutes while stirring .
- Let the filling cool completely.
For the toast rolls
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs and milk.
- Mix the white sugar with the remaining cinnamon in a plate.
- Cut the edges of the toast slices.
- Then roll flat with a rolling pin.
- Grip cream cheese on one side of the toast.
- Spread the apple filling on top.
- Roll up the toast tightly.
- Melt the remaining butter in the pan.
- Dunk the toast rolls in the egg mixture.
- Place in pan cut side down.
- A Fry the toast rolls in about 13-15 minutes until golden.
- Roll the crispy toast rolls with apple filling in the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
- Enjoy with a cup of milk or tea, if you like.
You can also bake the toast rolls in the oven instead of frying them in a pan. As a result, they get less fat and are healthier.
