Crispy yeast buns with jam and milk

Incredibly soft, tender, crispy on the outside and delicious . Filled with your favorite jam, it really is a treat for breakfast or brunch. The rolls take a little time to prepare, but it’s worth it.

  • 160 ml milk
  • 1 tsp yeast, dry
  • 3½ tbsp sugar
  • 310 g flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 30 ml water
  • 30 g butter
  • 300 g jam
  • 1 egg


  1. Mix the yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar in the warm milk.
  2. Let stand at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Sieve the flour, mix with the salt and the remaining sugar.
  4. Add the yeast solution, water and softened butter to the flour mixture.
  5. Knead into a soft, non-sticky, elastic dough.
  6. Form into a ball, place in a bowl and cover with cling film.
  7. Leave to rise at room temperature for an hour.
  8. Remove the yeast dough from the bowl, one or two Knead for a further 20 minutes and place under the cling film for another 20 minutes.
  9. Divide the dough into 10-12 portions of roughly the same size.
  10. Form each of them into a ball.
