  • 1500 g apples, Boskop or Braeburn
  • 150 ml water
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon


  1. Peel, core and chop the apples into medium-sized pieces.
  2. Place the apples in a saucepan and add water.
  3. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Stir frequently.
  4. Add the sugar and cinnamon to the saucepan.
  5. Crush everything with a hand blender.
  6. Let cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  7. Use more or less sugar, depending on the sweetness of the apples.
  8. Pour the applesauce into sterilized jars and cover.
  9. Four 500ml jars will do.
  10. Place the jars in a saucepan with a cloth on the bottom.
  11. Fill with hot water so it doesn’t reach the top of the jars .
  12. When the water has just started to boil, turn the heat down to low and let the saucepan simmer gently for 20 minutes.
  13. Remove the applesauce jars from the saucepan and cover with lids.
  14. Cool upside down then leave in a cool place once cool.
